The best Tyler Hynes Hallmark movies highlight why he’s become one of the network’s most beloved leading men. With his scruffy charm, razor-sharp wit, and that unmistakable twinkle in his eye, Hynes brings something fresh and unpredictable to every role.
If you’re looking for a complete list of every Tyler Hynes Hallmark movie, we’ve already got that covered here. But this post is different. This is our curated Girls Gone Hallmark starter pack – the movies we rewatch, recommend, and can’t stop dissecting on the podcast. In other words, these are the Tyler Hynes movies we think are his very best.

Must-Watch Tyler Hynes Hallmark Movies
These are the Tyler Hynes movies we rewatch, recommend, and – yes – relentlessly dissect on the podcast.
It Was Always You (Hallmark Channel – 2021)
Let’s get this one out of the way.

This movie is divisive. The story of buttoned-up Lizzie (Erin Krakow) reconnecting with her fiancé’s free-spirited brother David (Tyler Hynes) is, at best, chaotic neutral. And yet…Tyler as David? Irresistibly watchable.
On the Girls Gone Hallmark podcast, we were fascinated by David’s energy – equal parts emotionally intuitive and wildly inappropriate.
Whether you love it or hate it, It Was Always You is essential viewing to understand the Cult of Hynies.

Roadhouse Romance (Hallmark Channel – 2021)
This one is pure cozy country charm.

Tyler plays Luke, a big-shot TV food personality who winds up stranded in Tennessee and falls for Callie (played by American Idol alum Lauren Alaina). Yes, there’s barbecue. Yes, there’s a roadhouse. Yes, Tyler Hynes smolders.
We loved the balance in this one. Luke’s big shot vibes plays perfectly off Callie’s small-town strength. Tyler gives Luke just enough vulnerability to be believable without losing that cocky edge we’ve come to expect.
Also: the chemistry? Underrated.

An Unexpected Christmas (Hallmark Channel – 2021)
This movie is straight-up Hallmark magic.

Tyler plays Jamie, a political speechwriter who convinces his ex-girlfriend Emily (Bethany Joy Lenz) to pretend they’re still together over the holidays. Cue the fake-dating, emotional longing, and deeply awkward family dynamics.
What sets this movie apart? The banter. The timing. The slow burn.
Plus, it’s written by Hallmark favorite Paul Campbell, and it shows.

A Picture of Her (2023)
This one flew under the radar for a lot of people – but it shouldn’t have.

Tyler plays Jake, a street photographer who snaps a candid photo of Beth (Rhiannon Fish) at the farmer’s market. That photo ends up on a magazine cover, and…well, let’s just say secrets are revealed and feelings are felt.
What we loved: Jake isn’t your typical Hallmark guy. He’s a little guarded, a little artsy, and genuinely struggling with his own insecurities. Tyler brings an earnestness to the role that gives it surprising depth.
Bonus: these two have absolute fire chemistry.

Three Wise Men and a Baby / Three Wiser Men and a Boy (Hallmark Channel – 2022, 2024)
We’re cheating and putting both of these together because honestly, you need them both.

In Three Wise Men and a Baby, Tyler joins Paul Campbell and Andrew Walker as three wildly different brothers who suddenly have to care for an abandoned baby during the holidays. It’s heartwarming. It’s funny. And yes, there’s a full choreographed dance sequence at a Christmas pageant.
In the sequel Three Wiser Men and a Boy, the chaos continues but this time with more feelings, more family drama, and a preschool fundraiser. Tyler’s character, Taylor, evolves from emotionally unavailable hothead to…well, a slightly more emotionally available hothead.
If you want peak Hynes with strong comedic chops, this is it.

Winter in Vail (2020)
One of the more traditional romantic leads Tyler has played and he nails it.

He stars opposite Lacey Chabert (in their first pairing!) as Owen, a local contractor helping Chelsea (Lacey) renovate a family lodge in – you guessed it – Vail. There’s apple strudel, a snowball fight, and a “Strudel Fest.”
What we love here is the gentleness. Tyler plays Owen as steady, thoughtful, and kind – a different kind of charming than we usually get, but just as effective.
It’s a great intro movie if you’re new to Hynes and want something classic.
