Class is back in session, and today’s lesson? Mystery 101: Words Can Kill. We’re diving deep into the third installment of the wildly beloved Mystery 101 franchise – starring Hallmark royalty Kristoffer Polaha and Jill Wagner.
As part of Girls Gone Hallmark Summer School, we’re studying every clue, suspect, and longing glance this series throws our way. Words Can Kill brings us to a college book festival, where literary egos clash, secrets unravel, and the tension between Amy and Travis is seriously giving extra credit.

About Mystery 101: Words Can Kill (Hallmark – 2019)
- Mystery 101: Words Can Kill premiered on September 15, 2019 on Hallmark Movies and Mysteries. This is the third movie in the franchise.
- Andy Mikita directed. With 33 directing credits, this is the only Mystery 101 movie Andy directed. However, he is responsible for other Hallmark movies like Guiding Emily, To All a Goodnight, several episodes of Chesapeake Shores and more.
- John Christian Plummer wrote the script. He currently has 24 writing credits including some of Hallmark’s biggest mystery franchises, like Mystery Island, Curious Caterer, and Francesca Quinn, PI. Plummer will go on to write all seven of the Mystery 101 movies.
- The series was created by Robin Bernheim and Lee Goldberg.
- Kristoffer Polaha and Jill Wagner return as Travis Burke and Amy Winslow, respectively.
- Also returning is Robin Thomas as Graham Winslow, Preston Vanderslice as Bud, and Sarah Dugdale as Claire.
- Amanda Wong plays friend Holly. Amanda has 27 acting credits with a long standing role as Mei Sou in When Calls the Heart. She’a also appeared in movies like Bottled with Love and Raise a Glass to Love. She will reprise the character of Holly in Mystery 101: Dead Talk.
- Nat Bolts plays Celia Bunton. This appears to be her only Hallmark appearance but you may recognize her for her role as Penelope Blossom in 61 episodes of Riverdale.
- Eric Keenleyside plays Phil Jenk. He has 201 acting credits and recently appeared in The Wish Swap, as well as last year’s A Reason for the Season.
- Marci T. House plays Betsy Crane. Marci has an impressive 121 acting credits. She’s been in Hallmark movies like Scouting for Christmas and A Winning Team. She is set to co-star in the forthcoming Hallmark series Ripple.
- Milo Shandel plays Rick Fitch. Milo has appeared in several other Hallmark projects like Family Practice Mysteries: Coming Home, Beverly Hills Wedding, and A Summer Romance.
- Rhona Rees plays Graham Winslow Super Fan Hannah. Rhona has a long list of acting credits, having appeared in a good amount of Hallmark movies. Notably, she will serve as narrator in Mystery 101: Dead Talk.
