Is a You’re Bacon Me Crazy Sequel in the Works? Michael Rady’s Vancouver Instagram Story Has Fans Buzzing

Remember when we told you You’re Bacon Me Crazy was perhaps “a bit forgettable, but enjoyable”? Well, we might need to take that back because this food truck romance could be making a comeback!

Is a sequel to You're Bacon Me Crazy in the works on Hallmark Channel?

The Instagram Story That Started It All

Michael Rady recently posted an Instagram story that has Hallmark fans doing a double-take. The scene? A rainy day in Vancouver (classic Hallmark filming vibes). The company? None other than co-star Natalie Hall. And the real kicker? Cleo’s food truck (yes we paused and zoomed!) right on set!

So what does this mean? Are we getting a sequel to the 2020 rom-com about competing Portland food truck chefs who fall in love? Or is this just an old throwback story that’s got us all worked up for nothing?

Let’s Break Down the Evidence

Here’s what we know:

  • Michael Rady and Natalie Hall are together in Vancouver in this clip (where the original was filmed)
  • The food truck is present on set
  • It’s raining (very on-brand for both Portland AND Vancouver)
  • Nobody’s confirming or denying anything
  • Michael Rady did not respond to our question about the origin of this story

Here’s what we DON’T know:

  • Is this actually a new production?
  • Could this be behind-the-scenes footage from 2020 that just got posted?
  • Are they filming a sequel, or just reuniting for fun?

Why We’re Cautiously Optimistic

Look, we gave this movie three stars back when we reviewed it, but there’s definitely more story to tell. When we last left Cleo and Gabe, they’d just gotten together, Cleo was expanding her business dreams beyond just her single food truck, and Gabe had finally put down roots in Portland.

What could a sequel explore?

  • Cleo opening that restaurant in her grandfather’s old space (you KNOW that prime Portland real estate can’t just sit empty forever)
  • More of that Portland food scene we loved
  • Gabe’s bacon-everything food truck empire expanding
  • Niece Tessa’s social media skills taking both their businesses to the next level
  • Will we FINALLY get to see more of that bacon fried rice we’re still thinking about?

The Original: A Quick Refresher

In case you need a reminder, You’re Bacon Me Crazy premiered on April 4, 2020 -literally right as the world was shutting down. The movie featured:

  • Aspiring Portland chef Cleo Morelli (Natalie Hall) trying to win a food truck competition
  • Competitor Gabe (Michael Rady) rolling up in his Moe Bacon truck with rock music blaring
  • A romance that developed over BLP sandwiches and persimmons (seriously, what IS a persimmon?)
  • Way too many scenes of Cleo wearing her chef coat around town like it’s casual wear

The movie was based on a Suzanne Nelson middle-grade novel (fun fact!), filmed in Maple Ridge and Langley in British Columbia, and gave us some seriously gorgeous Portland food shots and left us wanting more.

Our Verdict on a Potential Sequel

Would we watch it? Absolutely.

Despite Cleo being “entitled, territorial” and that terrible Italian accent she’d slip into when talking about food (tu parma! tu sapra salsas!), we’re here for more Michael Rady being the most easygoing, charming chef to ever grace a food truck. Plus, maybe this time they’ll show us more actual food instead of just talking about it?

And hey, if this IS a new movie, maybe—just maybe—they’ll address the burning questions we had from the original:

  • How does Cleo afford that gorgeous Portland house on a single food truck income?
  • Who owns Mateo’s old restaurant space and why haven’t they rented it out?
  • Do real chefs actually wear their chef coats walking around town? (Asking for a friend.)
