Pie to Die For: A Hannah Swensen Mystery

We’re slicing into Pie to Die For: A Hannah Swensen Mystery, the latest serving from Hallmark’s long-running whodunit franchise. In this cozy caper, a local murder threatens more than just dessert – Hannah’s mother Delores is suddenly in the hot seat when her theater rival turns up dead. Now it’s up to Hannah to clear her mother’s name and, in true small-town fashion, solve the case between baking pies and falling for Chad.

But let’s be honest – the real mystery here is why this murder-filled movie is airing on Hallmark Channel and not Hallmark Mystery? Tune in with us as we break down the clues, the romance, and all the sugary drama.

Pie to Die For: A Hannah Swensen Mystery premieres on Hallmark Channel on Sunday June 22, 2025 (and streaming the next day on Hallmark+).

Who is in Pie to Die For: A Hannah Swensen Mystery (Hallmark – 2025):

  • Pie to Die For: A Hannah Swensen Mystery was directed by Crystal Lowe. Of course we all know Crystal as Rita from the fan favorite Signed, Sealed, Delivered franchise. This movie, however, marks Crystal’s sixth directorial project. She directed Ali in last year’s holiday romantic-drama This Time Each Year. We’re so happy to see that she’s continuing her work as a director.
  • Alison Sweeney stars as Hannah. We just saw Ali in the back-to-back Barcelona movies this month. At the time of press, there isn’t a writer announced for this installment of Hannah Swensen. Not only does Ali star, she is credited with the screenplay as well.
  • Wowie-Zowie Victor Webster returns as D.A. Chad Norton. Victor has an impressive 97 acting credits and we last saw him outside of Hannah Swensen in last year’s Sugarplummed. FYI: If you didn’t know, Victor will be joining Kristoffer Polaha on their own fan cruise in early January 2025.
  • Barbara Niven returns as Hannah’s meddling mom Delores. With 115 acting credits, Barbara is known for her roles in Chesapeake Shores, North to Home, and last year’s Leah’s Perfect Gift.
  • Lisa Durupt returns as sister Andrea. Lisa has 76 acting credits and was last seen in Our Holiday Story from last Christmas, but was absent from the last Hannah Swensen movie Reality Bites.
  • Mike Dopud plays Sheriff Ealing. With 203 acting credits, he has previously appeared in the last four Hannah Swensen movies.
  • Juliana Wimbles returns as the Cookie Jar co-baker Lisa Herman. In addition to her 45 acting credits, Juliana is a screenwriter who wrote the 2024 movie This Time Each Year – starring Alison Sweeney and directed by Crystal Lowe. She is also the writer of this weekend’s new movie A Machu Picchu Proposal.

  • Laura Soltis co-stars as Delores’ theater rival. If her dimples look familiar, Laura has been in many Hallmark projects including Season’s Greetings from Cherry Lane, This Time Each Year, and Holiday Crashers – and that just from 2024.
  • Zak Santiago – the one and only Ramon from Signed, Sealed, Delivered – also appears. With 169 acting credits, we are thrilled to see Zak in this Crystal Lowe movie.
  • Sharon Taylor also appears as Tonya. She has 70 acting credits with roles in Guiding Emily and Christmas Under the Lights. Sharon also appeared in the last Hannah movie as Tonya.
  • Pie to Die For: A Hannah Swensen Mystery is based on the novel Banana Cream Pie Murder by Joanne Fluke.
  • According to IMDb, the next Hannah Swensen Mystery called Cooked to Death is currently in pre-production.
