Hallmark fans are in for a treat! Alison Sweeney and Niall Matter, two beloved Hallmark stars, are appearing together for the very first time in This Time Each Year, a heartwarming holiday movie premiering as part of Hallmark’s Miracles of Christmas on Hallmark Mystery. Directed by Crystal Lowe, This Time Each Year promises to deliver a beautiful blend of love, second chances, and holiday magic.
What This Time Each Year Is About
This Time Each Year follows Lauren (played by Alison Sweeney) and Kevin (played by Niall Matter), a couple who separated a year ago but are still committed to raising their young son, Charlie. While Lauren seems content with their new normal, Kevin has other ideas—he’s determined to reunite and make their family whole again. As Christmas draws near, Kevin hopes that the holiday spirit will bring them back together.
This emotional story delves into the challenges of love, loss, and the possibility of rekindling a relationship during the most magical time of the year.

The Cast and Crew of This Time Each Year
Alongside the exciting first-ever pairing of Alison Sweeney and Niall Matter, This Time Each Year features a stellar supporting cast, including Victor Zinck Jr. (Love on the Sidelines, Frozen in Love), Laura Soltis (Holiday Crashers, A Season for Family), Colleen Wheeler (Notes of Autumn, Field Day), Craig March (Nelly Knows Mysteries: A Fatal Engagement, Checkin’ It Twice), and Ezra Wilson (Christmas on Cherry Lane).
What makes this movie even more special is that it was directed by Crystal Lowe, who has been making waves behind the camera. After being mentored through Hallmark’s Make Her Mark program – an initiative spearheaded by Ashley Williams to help aspiring female directors learn from other women in the industry – Lowe is now directing her peers in Hallmark movies. Earlier this year, she directed Shifting Gears, a film starring Tyler Hynes, and now she brings her talents to This Time Each Year.
When we interviewed Crystal, she also teased a special surprise appearance in this film that Signed, Sealed, Delivered fans will absolutely love! Be sure to watch for this Easter egg during the movie.

With its heartwarming story and the exciting first-ever collaboration between Alison Sweeney and Niall Matter, This Time Each Year is shaping up to be a holiday favorite. If you love stories about second chances and family, this movie is sure to hit all the right notes.
