What Is Mistletoe Murders?
Mistletoe Murders is Hallmark’s holiday mystery series starring Sarah Drew as Emily Lane, a Christmas shop owner with a knack for solving crimes, alongside Peter Mooney as Detective Sam Wilner.
The series is based on the Audible original mystery series created by Ken Cuperus, but the Hallmark Channel show is its own adaptation – which is why questions about renewals can sometimes get muddled between platforms.
Mistletoe Murders first premiered exclusively on Hallmark’s streaming platform, Hallmark+, in fall 2024. The network later brought the series to Hallmark Channel in fall 2025, airing Season 1 followed immediately by the Season 2 premiere, a rollout that helped the show quickly build a loyal fanbase drawn to its festive charm, serialized mystery, and character-driven storytelling.

- Production start: Later in 2026

What the Cast and Creators Are Saying
The excitement around Season 3 is palpable from everyone involved.
Michelle Vicary, Head of Programming at Hallmark Media, praised the show’s unique combination of elements: “Mistletoe Murders embodies so many of the elements viewers turn to Hallmark for: romance, community, and Christmas wrapped within a cozy mystery. Over two seasons, viewer response has been overwhelmingly positive.”

Showrunner and Executive Producer Ken Cuperus (Hudson & Rex) put it simply: “Two things I can’t seem to get enough of are Christmas and murder mysteries… so having the opportunity to continue to tell the story of Emily Lane is one of the great joys of my life.”
Jocelyn Hamilton, President of Television at Lionsgate Canada, called the renewal a reflection of their “shared commitment to entertaining storytelling, beloved characters, and holiday magic.”

How We Got Here: Tracking the Road to Renewal
When Mistletoe Murders Season 2 wrapped in late 2025, there was no official word yet on whether the show would continue, but there were plenty of reasons to be optimistic. We did some digging into Hallmark’s typical renewal patterns and what we knew about the show’s production timeline to try and read the tea leaves.
Based on Season 2’s filming timeline of late March through late May 2025 we predicted that a Season 3 renewal decision would likely come before spring 2026, with production following a similar window.
And we were right! Hallmark confirmed the renewal in February 2026, with production set to begin later this year. That puts us right on schedule for a Countdown to Christmas premiere.
(The announcement also came just before Sarah Drew’s newest Hallmark movie premiere. Those Hallmark execs are no dummies!)
If you were refreshing this page back in December wondering whether it was going to happen, it happened! Fletcher’s Grove is officially coming back.

What Fans Are Hoping to See in Mistletoe Murders Season 3
Now that Season 3 is confirmed, the question has shifted from if to what. You know Hallmark fans have a lot of feelings about where the story should go next.
Season 2 ended on a cliffhanger that raised the stakes significantly for both Emily and Sam, and viewers haven’t stopped talking about it since. The most consistent thing we hear from the Girls Gone Hallmark community is that they want answers and they want them without sacrificing the slow, deliberate pace that makes this show so satisfying to watch. Nobody wants the mystery of Emily Lane resolved too quickly. That tension is the engine of the whole series.

Beyond the central mystery, fans are vocal about a few specific things. More episodes per season comes up constantly. Six episodes feels like it’s over just as it’s getting started, and with a story this layered there’s a strong case for expanding the run. A deeper look at Sam’s perspective is another popular request; Peter Mooney has done a lot with limited screen time and viewers want to see that character opened up. And perhaps the most interesting fan conversation has been around the Christmas setting itself.

Series creator Ken Cuperus has previously mentioned that Emily’s shop is open year-round and that he’d love to tell Mistletoe Murders stories set outside the holiday season. Some fans are actively hoping Season 3 leans into that, even slightly, to give the world of Fletcher’s Grove more room to breathe.
Season 3 has a lot to deliver on, and based on everything Ken Cuperus and the team have said about it, they know it.
