A Biltmore Christmas Sequel Is Official – Everything We Know About Hallmark’s Return to Biltmore

If you ever doubted whether Hallmark knew exactly what it had with A Biltmore Christmas, this announcement puts that question to rest. After some fan speculation, the A Biltmore Christmas sequel is officially happening, with Hallmark confirming a return to the iconic Biltmore Estate for a brand-new holiday love story set across two timelines.

A Biltmore Christmas sequel is coming to Hallmark’s Countdown to Christmas 2026 with a new cast, new love story, and a return to Biltmore.

First reported by Variety, the sequel is slated for Countdown to Christmas 2026 – a prime slot that signals just how much confidence the network has in revisiting one of its most beloved modern holiday films.

Why A Biltmore Christmas Getting a Sequel is a Big Deal

Hallmark doesn’t hand out sequels easily – especially not for standalone holiday romances. With the exception of long-running mystery franchises, the Haul Out the Holly films anchored by Lacey Chabert and Wes Brown, or the Three Wise Men franchise featuring fan favorites Andrew Walker, Paul Campbell, and Tyler Hynes, follow-ups are relatively rare.

That’s what makes this return to Biltmore especially noteworthy.

The original 2023 film blended:

  • A sweeping, time-travel romance
  • Old Hollywood nostalgia
  • One of the most visually stunning locations Hallmark has ever used

The result? A movie many fans consider one of the best Hallmark Christmas movies ever made. Revisiting this world isn’t just fan service – it’s a strategic move by Hallmark to build on something that clearly resonated.

The Hallmark Community Knew Something Was Coming

Before the official announcement, the Hallmark community was already buzzing about a possible A Biltmore Christmas sequel.

Just last week, multiple Hallmark-focused Facebook groups were actively discussing rumors that Hallmark would be returning to the Biltmore Estate. According to posts circulating among fans, someone reportedly connected to the estate hinted that Hallmark planned to be back immediately following the holidays – specifically to film while the property was still dressed in its full Christmas glory.

For seasoned Hallmark viewers, that detail mattered. Filming at Biltmore is no small feat, and gaining access during the holiday season – when the estate is at its most magical – is especially rare. The idea that Hallmark would prioritize returning so quickly, and time production to capture the estate at peak festive beauty, made the rumors feel credible.

As it turns out, the fans were right.

Hallmark’s official confirmation validates what many suspected all along: A Biltmore Christmas wasn’t a one-off success – it left an impression strong enough to bring the network back to one of the most iconic locations it has ever used.

A New Love Story at Biltmore (With a New Cast)

Here’s where the sequel takes an interesting turn.

The new A Biltmore Christmas movie will star Holland Roden and Niall Matter, leading an entirely new love story set across two timelines.

Notably absent are Kristoffer Polaha and Bethany Joy Lenz.

This is not a continuation of Lucy and Jack’s romance. Instead, Hallmark is expanding the world of Biltmore itself – using the estate as the connective thread while introducing new characters and emotional stakes.

Think of it as a spiritual sequel, not a traditional one.

Jonathan Frakes Returns as Winston

One beloved element is returning: Jonathan Frakes will reprise his role as Winston, the charismatic presence from the original film.

His return offers continuity for fans while allowing the new story to stand on its own – a smart balance between nostalgia and forward momentum.

What Is the A Biltmore Christmas Sequel About?

Hallmark has released a detailed story description, and it carries the same ambitious, romantic scope that made the first film such a standout.

The story begins in 1895, as Biltmore House opens for Christmas Eve celebrations. Thirteen-year-old Elizabeth meets Michael, a mysterious teen caught trespassing. The two form an instant bond – only for Michael to vanish without explanation.

Twenty years later, Elizabeth returns to Biltmore, now accompanied by a suitor her family hopes she will marry. When a stranger asks her to dance at a Christmas gala, she’s stunned to discover it’s Michael.

In a twist worthy of the original film, Elizabeth is suddenly transported to the modern world, where Michael – now a tourist from the present day – had traveled to the past years earlier with the help of a magical hourglass hidden in Biltmore’s library.

As Elizabeth experiences Christmas in the 21st century, she must ultimately decide whether to return to the life chosen for her – or follow her heart into an entirely new future.

Behind the Scenes: Creative Team & Filming Locations

While the A Biltmore Christmas sequel introduces a new director, it remains firmly in the hands of creatives who understand the heart of the original. The first film was directed by John Putch, whose classic, romantic sensibility helped shape the movie into the fan favorite it became.

For the sequel, directing duties shift to Dustin Rikert, a familiar name for Hallmark viewers. Rikert previously served as an executive producer on A Biltmore Christmas and now steps behind the camera, bringing both continuity and a fresh perspective. His Hallmark directing credits include Holiday Touchdown: A Bills Love StoryThe Christmas Quest, and A Newport Christmas.

The screenplay once again comes from Marcy Holland, ensuring the sequel stays rooted in the same romantic, time-bending spirit that made the original resonate. David O’Donnell returns as executive producer—and Hallmark fans may recognize him for more than his behind-the-scenes work. O’Donnell also appeared on screen earlier this season as Rex in A Newport Christmas and recently executive produced Christmas Above the Clouds, making him one of those rare Hallmark multi-hyphenates who truly does it all.

Taken together, the creative lineup suggests Hallmark is treating this sequel as more than just another holiday movie – it’s a carefully built return to a world they know viewers are eager to revisit.

Why This Sequel Could Be Just as Special

Hallmark Media’s Head of Programming Michelle Vicary summed it up best:

“When A Biltmore Christmas premiered, it immediately became a fan favorite and an instant classic… We can’t wait for viewers to travel back to Biltmore and fall for this new love story as much as they did the first one.”

New cast. New story. Same unforgettable setting.

It’s a bold approach – and one that signals Hallmark understands exactly why the original worked.
