The story follows a determined woman from 1905 Newport who is mysteriously transported to the present day. Lost in a world she doesn’t recognize, she meets a passionate historian investigating her century-old disappearance. As they unravel the strange circumstances that brought her to modern-day Newport, the pair discover a connection that defies the barriers of time.

A fan favorite for his warm, sincere portrayals of Hallmark’s quintessential “nice guy,” Brown has lit up the screen in countless holiday and seasonal favorites. He’s starred in Haul Out the Holly and its festive sequel Haul Out the Holly: Lit Up, and recently dropped hints that he’ll be back for the third installment in the franchise. Last year, he also brought cozy autumn vibes in Autumn at Apple Hill and hosted the Hallmark+ series Ready, Set, Glow!
- Ginna Claire Mason is best known for her multi-year run as Glinda in Wicked on Broadway, but she’s quickly made a name for herself in the world of Hallmark films. In A Holiday Spectacular, she lit up the screen alongside the Radio City Rockettes and Ann-Margret, bringing 1950s New York to life. She showed off her musical chops in A Carol for Two as Violette, a small-town girl chasing Broadway dreams. Most recently, she charmed audiences in Hats Off to Love, playing an aspiring hat designer who finds inspiration and love.
Fun fact: it is rumored the duo recorded an original song together in Nashville, TN for the movie’s soundtrack. So yes, we’re fully expecting some swoon-worthy musical moments, too.
Where Was A Newport Christmas Filmed?
Production for A Newport Christmas began in March 2025 in upstate New York, with filming taking place across Erie and Niagara Counties. According to a casting call shared by Casting Buffalo and reported by the New Haven Register, the production ran from March 17 to April 3, 2025 and included local extras portraying ballroom dancers, Gilded Age guests, and more.
After wrapping in New York, the cast and crew moved to Newport, Rhode Island, where they began filming on April 7, 2025 at Bowen’s Wharf, which was transformed with festive holiday decor to capture the movie’s timeless Christmas aesthetic. This portion of filming was covered by several local outlets, including WROR and The Newport Buzz, who noted the excitement the production brought to the waterfront area.
A Time-Travel Romance from a Trusted Creative Team
A Newport Christmas was directed by Hallmark regular Dustin Rikert (The Christmas Quest, Next Stop, Christmas, and One Royal Holiday) and written by Joie Botkin (Savoring Paris, Branching Out, and His & Hers).
The movie is produced by Synthetic Cinema International, the team is known for creating cozy, heartfelt stories with a slightly magical twist. Previous Hallmark projects include A Biltmore Christmas, Her Pen Pal, and the forthcoming Holiday Touchdown: A Bills Love Story.
When Will A Newport Christmas Premiere?
While an exact date hasn’t been announced yet, A Newport Christmas will be part of Hallmark Channel’s 2025 Countdown to Christmas slate.
