The Way Home Listener Mailbag Episode #1 Girls Gone Hallmark - your fan theories and questions

The Baby Elliot Theory We Can’t Stop Thinking About

Listener Aaron kicked things off with a theory so airtight we practically had nothing to add: she believes it was Alice, not Tessa, who left Baby Elliot by the pond, and lays out the case in detail, from the physical description of the figure who jumped to Alice’s existing pattern of time travel stops with a purpose. The idea is that this would be one of Alice’s quick, unplanned stopovers where she’d know exactly what to do because she’d already done it.

“There’s nothing about that that I’m pushing back against.” — Megan, after reading Erin’s email approximately once

Brady’s Back and We Have Notes

We also heard from Francisco, a GGH regular who keeps it very real about Kat and has complicated feelings about Elliot’s emotions (valid) and Brady’s return (also valid, we said what we said). He flagged the auditory memory Dell has in the kitchen with Rita and Sam — a moment we didn’t spend a lot of time on in the recap — and it got us wondering whose voice that is and what she’s being told to leave behind.

The Details You’re Catching That We Missed

Marlene wrote in for the first time to point out that the song the clock plays for Elliot (“Beautiful Dreamer”) is the same song Fern sang the first time Kat met her. She also raised an interesting parallel between Kat and Alice: both had a best friend who was also a romantic rival, in different decades. The Way Home really does reward people who pay close attention.

Eric from Iowa spotted something in the Toronto bench scene that we had to immediately look up. YouTube commenters Nate, Heather, and Glenn all weighed in on Griffin, Sam, and the tunnels under Port Haven. And Hannah on Spotify reminded us that both Jacob and Sam have a Toronto connection which we absolutely think that’s going to matter.

About That Voicemail

Then there was the voicemail. The tone was a little spicy, but the point was fair the writers of a show called The Way Home probably did know that “Show Me the Way to Go Home” was in Jaws. We stand by Wendy’s investigative process. Moving on.
