All Our Burning Questions Before ‘The Way Home’ Season Finale
So we’re finally here, folks—the season finale of “The Way Home” is just around the corner, and honestly, we have SO many questions keeping us up at night. This season has taken us on one wild ride through time, family secrets, and emotional revelations that have left us alternately sobbing and screaming at our screens.
With just one episode left to wrap things up (or leave us hanging until next season), we’ve pulled together all the burning questions we need answered before the credits roll one last time. Will we actually get closure, or are the writers planning to torture us with more cliffhangers? Let’s dive into everything we’re dying to know!

First things first, if you’re new here, hi! We’re the hosts of Girls Gone Hallmark and we’ve been recapping The Way Home since season 1! This season we also introduced Listener Mailbag episodes where we dive into thoughts, questions and theories sent in by our listeners. Catch up with our coverage of “The Way Home” here!
Who Pushed Alice into the Pond?
In the beginning of season 3, Alice is pushed into the pond and begins time traveling to 1974. Theories have run wild about who could have pushed her. On our mailbag episodes, listeners have written in to suggest that it could have been Alice herself, KC Goodwin, Colton, or even Fern!

Who is the baby in the basket?
Like every season of “The Way Home” season three opens with a question that we will spend all season wondering about. Remember the White Witch from season one? This season we saw a baby in a basket on the banks of the pond and two individuals nearby.
We scoured images from this scene trying to find things out. Wendy thought that the attire in this scene suggested that it took place in the 90’s although we’ve since come to accept it really could be any time from the seventies on forward.
Listener theories include the baby being Jacob, KC, Claire, or another surprise baby that we have yet to meet – perhaps a child that Del had prior to Kat and Jacob?
How much did Colton know about the pond?
We get a lot of information about Colton’s time traveling adventures in episode 9. He tells Alice all about his time in the pond and Alice concludes that the two trips he took back to the 1800s from the 1970s were the extend of his time travel.

However, Colton lives a lot of life after that conversation. He assumed that the pond would no longer allow him to travel, but viewers know better. We saw Colton watching his family at the summer kick off event in 1999, so we know he traveled at least one more time.
This leaves us with a lot of questions. How many times did Colton travel after the times he admitted to Alice. Does adult Colton recognize his teenage friend Alice when she arrives on Landry farm in 1999?
Why was Colton warning Jacob about the pond and why did Fern warn Colton away from the pond?
Season 2 ended with a reveal of a woman and a young boy on the banks of the pond. We now know that woman was Fern telling her grandson Colton to be aware of the pond. During Colton’s confession to Alice he said that Fern warned him about the pond “until he was older.” Why?
We saw scenes throughout season 3 of Colton warning Jacob about the pond. We suspect that this question ties into our next question about “The One.”

Who is “The One?”
Fern often references “The One” but we don’t know who this is or what their role has been. Fern tells us she thought Colton was the one but he was not. Along with our listeners, we have speculated that “The One” relates to the warnings about the pond.
Who’s writing the letters to Del?
What lie are they referring to in the letters? Does the mysterious letter writer know the truth about Jacob’s disappearance? Or is there another lie that we’re unaware of?

What is the significance of the clock found in Elliot’s wall?
We know the clock is significant, but we don’t know why. So many people have suggested that the clock is the key to unlocking future time travel that we have started to accept this notion as fact. We’re sure somewhere there’s a team of writers laughing their heads off at our ridiculous ideas.

Will we see Susannah and Thomas again?
At the end of episode 9 it felt like Susannah and Thomas’ stories were pretty well wrapped up. However we had spent so much time believing that future time travel was on the horizon that we’re having a hard time letting go of these two. I think we’ll likely hold out hope for their returns until the end of the series.

A Tale of Two Rings
In this season we have two rings that are significant. KC has Kat’s engagment ring, but that currently belongs to Alice. How did KC come to have the ring? Is it that Alice is KC’s mother as Alice suspects?
Then there’s the Augustine ring. Why did Vic steal the ring from Elliot? Was it simply to give it to his new fiance or did he like that he also got to hurt Elliot in the process. Did you spy that ring on Susannah’s hand in episode nine?
Who is Colton’s Mom?
Why haven’t we seen seen Colton’s mom all season?
Who is KC Goodwin?
We don’t believe for one minute that they are simply a distant relative of the Goodwins. Or, perhaps they are, but they are certainly more than that. When we last saw KC they were jumping into the pond. So that confirms that KC can time travel. Where did KC come from? And what does KC stand for?
Let’s Talk About Del’s Horse
In season 2, when Sam Bishop came on the scene, Del immediately connected with his horse. I have suspected since then that there was something going on there, but I have never had any confirmation.
In season 3, we learn that Del’s family fell upon hard times and sold her horse. Did she connect with Sam’s horse simply because she’s a horse girl, or is there more to discover there?
What’s the deal with Sam Bishop?
What really brought Sam to Port Haven? What is Sam’s connection to KC. Why did Sam seem very interested in the coins that were found from the 1800’s? Why did Jacob say to Sam, “It’s nice to see you…here?”

Where is Finn?
That’s it. That’s the question.
When will Alice return to 1999 for the M.A.S.H. game?
We know Alice has at least one more visit to 1999 in her future. Will we see that happen this season? We admit that we like that her visit to 1999 will include playing a game that is supposed to predict your future.
Was that Jasper we saw in 1816?
If that was in fact Jasper as we very strongly suspect that it was – what was he doing there?

Who was the young girl in Coyle’s quoting T.S. Eliot to Alice?
We received a ton of emails suggesting that woman will turn out to be Elliot’s mom and we admit we’re a little embarrassed that we didn’t make that leap ourselves. Only time will tell if that theory is proven correct.
Will Alice end up with Noah or Max?
We like them both but we’re definitely starting to see a future with Max. Many people have wondered if it’s merely coincidental that Noah and Alice’s dad Brady look so much alike. (We hope this is merely a coincidence.)

What’s the deal with the soil?
There have been many references to the soil throughout this season. Max quotes his did Lewis referring to Jacob as “the soil whisperer.” We see Jacob rolling the soil through his hands on the Goodwin vineyard. We hear Elijah talking about the soil back in the 1800’s. So we ask you yet again: what’s the deal with the soil.
Who is Claire?
It seems like the identity of Nick’s fiancé will be significant. He says she’s a lot like Del. Is she, in fact, related to Del?

Will The Way Home be renewed for Season 4?
This is perhaps the most burning question of them all. In our Facebook group the speculation is running rampant. We will be gutted if this week’s season finale also serves as the series finale. Hallmark, hear our cry and bring “The Way Home” back for a season four!
