What Is The Spirit of Halloween About?
Everly Stone (Meghan Ory) is a brilliant bridal designer with no patience for Halloween. She has a specific reason: the town’s beloved fire-station bash is where she got her heart broken, publicly, in front of everyone she knew.
Then her late mentor turns up with a glamorous warning, and Everly gets swept through one unforgettable night by three mischievous spirits. They show her the joy she gave up, the people she keeps pushing away, and the future she’ll miss if she keeps hiding behind work and fear.
Meanwhile, her assistant is ready for more responsibility, the town is waiting for her to come back to it, and her longtime friend Beau Madison (Kevin McGarry) is still carrying a spark from their past. By the end of the night, Everly has to decide whether Halloween is the holiday that broke her heart or the one that can finally mend it.
It’s A Christmas Carol with a jack-o’-lantern, and honestly, why has no one done this sooner?
Who Stars in The Spirit of Halloween?
Meghan Ory plays Everly Stone. Hallmark fans know her as Abby O’Brien from six seasons of Chesapeake Shores, and she also starred in Once Upon a Time as Ruby.
Kevin McGarry plays Beau Madison. He’s Nathan Grant on When Calls the Heart, and he’s back on Hallmark Channel again this Thanksgiving weekend in The Christmas Eve Feast, premiering November 27 at 6/5c opposite Daniella Monet.
Lachlan Quarmby appears as the Ghost of Halloween Future.
Hallmark hasn’t announced who plays the other two spirits or the late mentor. We’ll add them here as soon as they’re confirmed.

Jeff Beesley Directs
Here’s a detail we’re genuinely excited about: Jeff Beesley directs. He’s one of the most reliable directors working in the Hallmark world, and he has a huge year ahead. Beesley directed four movies in the Countdown to Christmas 2026 lineup, which makes The Spirit of Halloween a good preview of the fall and winter he’s about to have.
Why We’re Watching
We’ll watch any Christmas Carol adaptation. This is a format that works and flipping it into a Halloween format is something we can’t wait to see play out on screen.
Hallmark is finally leaning into Halloween. Between this and A Knight to Remember with its Halloween Medieval Fayre the week before, October is getting the seasonal treatment the network usually reserves for December.
A fire-station Halloween party is a specific kind of heartbreak. Small-town public humiliation is a strong backstory, and it makes Everly’s grudge against the holiday feel earned instead of arbitrary.
