The Best Hallmark Movies of 2024
Hallmark Channel delivered some delightful non-holiday offerings in 2024. While their Christmas movies often steal the spotlight, this year’s slate of spring, summer, and fall releases featured compelling stories of love, family, and personal growth.

We got a solid attempt at a spooky movie, a mystery franchise that makes us laugh endlessly, strong independent women, and a truly unique tale of living out alternate realities via lemon drops! Let’s explore some of the best Hallmark movies of 2024 that made us smile, laugh, and maybe shed a happy tear or two.
Best Hallmark Movies of 2024 #5 – The Cases of Mystery Lane – Death is Listening

In this newest installment, Bertie and Alden Case find themselves deeply entrenched in their mutual love for true crime. The stakes rise when their favorite true crime podcaster is found dead, and it’s up to them—The Cases—to unravel the mystery and reveal the truth.
With Amy Garcia playing the sharp and witty Birdie Case, and Paul Campbell bringing charm and humor to Alden, this movie has the perfect blend of suspense and entertainment.

What We Loved
- Aimee Garcie and Paul Campbell are a truly delightful on screen pairing. Their interactions, particularly in moments of comedic gold like the salsa dance scene, deliver jovial and heartwarming performances.
- The movie delivers an unforgettable supporting cast, including Matt Hamilton as Officer “Newton.” His interactions with Garcia and Campbell elevate the film’s comedic elements, creating an entertaining trifecta that keeps audiences engaged.
- We were equally invested in the murder mystery as well as the comedic side of this movie, and this is one of the few times one of us solved the murder before the on screen detectives did! The compelling cliffhanger involving Bertie’s father provides suspense that leaves us eager for a potential sequel.

Best Hallmark Movies of 2024 # 4 – Savoring Paris

Savoring Paris’ transports viewers to the breathtaking backdrop of Paris, beautifully encapsulating the city of love, self-discovery, and culinary temptations. Directed by Claire Niederpruem, this film showcases her remarkable talent, as seen in her previous Hallmark works such as ‘An American in Austin’ and ‘A Royal Corgi Christmas.’
We can’t forget Joie Botkin’s screenplay that manages to have both depth and humor, offering a narrative that resonates especially with these midlife viewers seeking a refreshing take on a self-exploration journey.

What We Loved About ‘Savoring Paris’
- Bethany Joy Lenz, the cream of the crop on Hallmark delivers an authentic portrayal of Ella, our protagonist who embarks on a journey to find herself ourside of work.
- Supported by French actor Stanley Weber as Serge, the dynamic between the leading duo was not only believable but charmingly layered with real-life complexities, like navigating life post-divorce without melodrama.
- The evolution of Ella’s character as shown through her changing wardrobe from a tourist to a quasi-Parisian, added an addition of visual storytelling that we loved. The movie employs clever cues such as intriguing text bubbles to convey language barriers and cultural transitions, making the experience immersive and relatable.
- Finally, the film balanced multiple relationships, from Ella’s bond with her mother to newfound friendships in Paris, without losing focus on its central romantic narrative.

Best Hallmark Movies of 2024 #3 Blind Date Book Club

“Blind Date Book Club” introduces us to a quaint Nantucket bookshop owner known for her ability to match others through her curated blind date books.

What We Liked
- The film is skillfully directed by Peter Benson, a well-known actor who has transitioned seamlessly into directing. Benson’s approach to storytelling, evident in celebrated Hallmark favorites like “The Wedding Veil Expectations” and “Sweet Carolina,” shines brightly here as well. He crafts a narrative that is rich in both emotion and visual appeal.
- Erin Krakow, as the endearing bookshop owner Meg, brings a refreshing authenticity to her role. Known for her work on “When Calls the Heart,” Krakow offers a performance that is effortlessly captivating. Her on-screen chemistry with Robert Buckley, Graham, (who Megan inadvertently refers to as Robert Buckley Jr thoughout the film) adds a delightful spark to the film.
- We were particularly charmed by the film’s portrayal of text flirting—an aspect that feels both current and heartwarming. The nuanced storytelling around simple yet profound life decisions, like the future of Meg’s bookstore, adds layers without overshadowing the film’s lighter, romantic core.

Best Hallmark Movies of 2024 #2 Haunted Wedding

Hallmark surprised us this year with a movie that steps outside their traditional romantic comedy playbook. Released on October 12th, 2024, “Haunted Wedding” captivated us with its charming blend of romance and otherworldly intrigue.
This film offers a refreshing twist on the classic Hallmark formula, putting together a movie that is both on-brand and refreshingly novel.
The film features Janelle Parrish and Dominic Sherwood, who bring life to the characters of Jana and Brian. This couple’s wedding plans are thrown into chaos when Angelique, a ghost in an 18th-century wedding dress, decides she must prevent the nuptials. As Jana and Brian navigate this spooky conundrum, they must work together to unravel the mystery and save their special day.

What We Loved About “Haunted Wedding”
- The balance between tradition and freshness was masterfully executed. The chemistry between Janelle Parrish and Dominic Sherwood was palpable, and their dynamic dialogue added depth and humor to the film.
- We were particularly taken with how the movie managed to balance the contemporary with the nostalgic, seamlessly blending the past and present through Angelique’s haunting presence.
- The film’s ensemble cast adds layers of warmth and humor that enrich the main story. From Eric Athavale’s comedic timing as Steve to the subtle yet impactful presence of Lauren Cochrane as Rachel, each character played a crucial role in the film’s success.
- We also appreciated the authentic depiction of ghostly encounters, which stayed true to typical Hallmark charm without veering into the excessively eerie territory.

This enchanting storyline, adapted from Rachel Linden’s novel, brings viewers into a world where decisions unfold into vibrant alternate realities, each laden with its own set of consequences.
What We Loved

With vibrant colors and innovative camera angles, the movie seamlessly transports us into Lolly’s multi-faceted world of ‘what ifs’.
- Lindsay Fonseca shines as Lolly, delivering a performance that is both natural and endearing. Ian Harding’s portrayal of Rory adds a layer of depth, making their onscreen chemistry palpable. (More Ian Harding, please!)
