Hallmark News and Notes

  • Hallmark Publishing closed operations unexpectedly in October 2022. This is relevant because “Sweeter Than Chocolate” by Lizzie Shane was published by Hallmark Publishing and later developed into a movie for the channel.
  • Five new movies were announced for March. Films include Hallmark favorites like Kimberley Sustad, Kristoffer Polaha, Tyler Hynes, and Paul Campbell.
  • Last week’s “Love in Glacier National: A National Park Romance” ranked 13/150 in cable telecasts for Saturday, January 28. It pulled in 2.0 million live viewers.

About “Sweeter Than Chocolate”

  • This film is based on the book by the same name by Lizzie Shane.
  • Filming took place in and around the Vancouver area of British Columbia, Canada.
    • One specific location – per Dan Jeannotte – was the picturesque Fort Langley Community Hall
  • Scenes were filmed from November 14 – December 2, 2022.
  • Front Street Productions – a Vancouver production company – produced this film.
  • The Cupid Chocolates featured in the movie were made by Bissingers and can be ordered from their website.
  • Eloise Mumford plays Lucy Sweet.
    • She has 28 film credits, including Hallmark Movie’s & Mysteries “Presence of Love” in 2022, “One December Night” from 2021, and “The Baker’s Son” also from 2021.
  • Brenda Strong plays Lucy’s mom, Helen. She’s probably best known for playing Mary Alice Young in “Desperate Housewives,” as well as Ann Ewing in the reboot of “Dallas” from 2012-2014, and 22 episodes as Nora Walker in “13 Reasons Why.”
  • Dan Jeannotte plays Dean Chase. We saw Dan in last year’s “The Royal Nanny” and of course we know him as Ryan Decker on “The Bold Type.
