Girls Gone Hallmark has a new home!
We used to be a bonus episode under the Long Story Short with Megan and Wendy banner. Now, Girls Gone Hallmark is its very own podcast! We would love it if you would follow us over there and leave a review! New episodes drop weekly!
News and Notes for Playing Cupid
Sources report that Playing Cupid was filmed in Vancouver and Langley, British Columbia.
We’re seeing a disappointing trend that there isn’t a ton of social media coverage from the actors and producers from the movies in the Love Ever After line up. What’s happening here? We want behind-the-scenes, we want 14-day quarantine stories, we want on-set photos and we want location photos!

What is Playing Cupid About?
Hallmark Channel promoted Playing Cupid as a modern day re-telling of Jane Austen’s Emma. Yes, Mia Quaranta De La Rosa who plays Clara does act as a Emma-type matchmaker for her fellow students and inevitably (spoiler alert!) for her dad and teacher.
The book Playing Cupid by Jenny Meyerhoff also inspired the script for this movie. Buy it here (it’s recommended for 8-12 year old readers and has 5 stars on Amazon).
Mentioned in this Episode
- Anya Taylor-Joy is a Golden Globe double nominee for her roles in Emma (2020) and The Queen’s Gambit.
- Clueless (1995) is recognized as one of the most popular, contemporary re-tellings of Jane Austen’s Emma. This article compares the two.
