What Is Paris Is Always a Good Idea?

Paris Is Always a Good Idea is a brand-new, six-episode limited series streaming exclusively on Hallmark+, based on the beloved bestselling romance novel of the same name by Jenn McKinlay. It stars Hallmark fan-favorite Lacey Chabert alongside Scott Michael Foster (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend), and it is currently filming on location in Paris and Spain.

The story centers on Chelsea Martin (Chabert), a driven nonprofit executive who travels to Paris to secure a major donation alongside her charming rival-turned-ally Jason Knightly (Foster). But when a heartfelt message from her late mother surfaces, Chelsea embarks on an unexpected journey, with a push from her father (Henry Czerny) and her sister (Rebecca Hanssen), to reconnect with three great loves she left behind in Europe. From the rolling hills of Ireland to the magic of Paris to the sun-kissed vineyards of Spain, she retraces old footsteps and discovers that sometimes moving forward means first looking back.

The Cast: Who’s Who

Chabert and Foster lead a dynamic ensemble that spans Hallmark favorites and exciting new faces. Henry Czerny (Revenge, Ready or Not) and Barbara Niven (Chesapeake Shores) round out the primary cast, while Stephen Hagan (Love of the Irish), Julien Marlon Samani (An Alpine Holiday), and Alejandro Albarracín (Dreams of Freedom) bring the three past loves to life.

Chabert also steps into the role of executive producer on this project. It’s a creative partnership that promises to bring even more authenticity and passion to Chelsea’s journey.

Why This Series Is Different

Hallmark has been steadily expanding its serialized storytelling on Hallmark+, and Paris Is Always a Good Idea represents a significant step: a six-episode arc built around a single character’s emotional journey across three countries. The structure allows the series to breathe in ways a traditional movie can’t: each country, each ex, each chapter of Chelsea’s past gets real space to unfold.

Fans of Twelve Dates ‘Til Christmas will recognize the structure of this series. Viewers loved the deep dive into Kate’s life in that holiday limited series and we here at Girls Gone Hallmark are crossing our fingers that this has that same magic.

Already a Hallmark+ Subscriber?

Already a Hallmark+ subscriber? There is a lot to love on the platform right now. Hope Valley: 1874, the prequel series to When Calls the Heart starring Bethany Joy Lenz and Benjamin Ayres, wrapped its first season to such strong numbers that Hallmark renewed it for a second season, set to return in 2027. The Way Home wrapped its celebrated four-season run with a series finale on June 21, and the full series is available to stream on Hallmark+. And if you need something to fill the summer void before Paris Is Always a Good Idea premieres, Christmas at Sea Season 2 is available to stream on Hallmark+ starting July 1.
