Holiday Touchdown: A Bears Love Story Is Coming to Hallmark
The Holiday Touchdown franchise is officially three for three. Hallmark Media, the NFL, and Skydance Sports have announced that the Chicago Bears are the next team to get the holiday movie treatment, with Holiday Touchdown: A Bears Love Story set to premiere during Hallmark Channel’s 2026 Countdown to Christmas. Production kicks off this summer and will film entirely in Chicago.

If you have been following along with us since the beginning, you know this franchise holds a special place in our hearts. We reviewed Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story when it premiered in 2024 and we reviewed Holiday Touchdown: A Bills Love Story when it premiered in 2025. Now we get to do it all over again with the Bears and honestly, we cannot wait.
Update: We have a cast!
Chicago Bears team reporter Jasmine Baker shared the lineup in a new Hallmark Channel video. Lindsy Fonseca stars as Avery opposite Robert Buckley as Matt, with Marsha Mason as Darlene, Barbara Alyn Woods as Jody, and Khary Payton as Ron rounding out the cast.
IMDB also has Dustin Rikert attached to direct. We’re still dying to know who the writer is on the project and we’ll update as soon as we know.
What We Know So Far
We have some limited cast and crew info! (see above) Whatbknow is that the movie will film entirely on location in and around Chicago, showcasing iconic locations, beloved traditions, and the passionate fan base that surrounds one of the NFL’s most storied franchises. Eagle-eyed fans have already caught the crew filming on location in the Windy City. The Chicago Bears were established in 1920 as one of the founding franchises of the NFL and boast nine NFL Championships, including one Super Bowl, and 37 Hall of Famers. That is a lot of history to work with.
Skydance Sports is back as executive producer, continuing the partnership that made the first two movies possible. They are the team behind the production company that previously worked with Hallmark and the NFL on the Chiefs and Bills installments, so this is a familiar and proven collaboration.
The announcement was made in a fun way too: Bears Head Coach Ben Johnson and Tight End Colston Loveland appeared in a video to break the news, which is very much in the spirit of how Hallmark has handled these reveals from the start.
Why the Bears Make Sense
The Chiefs gave us Kansas City romance and Taylor Swift-era football fever. The Bills gave us Bills Mafia heart and Buffalo traditions. The Bears bring something different: a century-old franchise with a massive national fan base, a city with incredible visual potential, and a team that has been part of Chicago’s identity for generations. The press release says the movie will give fans “a glimpse into the tradition, spirit, and love that flow through its devoted fan base and the City of Chicago year-round, but especially during the holiday season.” That sounds like exactly what this franchise does best.
Also worth noting: this will be the first scripted film of its kind for the Chicago Bears organization, which means the team is invested in making it great.
The Franchise Track Record
In case you need a refresher on why this announcement is such a big deal, both previous Holiday Touchdown films ranked among the top cable movies of the year with total viewers. The Chiefs movie in particular became a cultural moment, and the Bills movie proved the concept was not a one-time lightning strike. Hallmark knows what they have here, and so do we.
We will update this post as cast and premiere date details are announced. In the meantime, if you want to get caught up on the franchise, here are our reviews:
