‘Tis the season for holiday movies aplenty. While we’re inundated with Christmas films from Hallmark, a select few Hanukkah movies grace our screens. Hanukkah Movies on Hallmark – Recommended by Girls Gone Hallmark
We’re all about celebrating diversity and representation in storytelling, and we love when a movie does it right. While not every Hanukkah movie lights up our menorah with eight shining candles, we’re excited to share a list of films that might just brighten your holiday season.
Round and Round
Stars: Vic Michaelis and Bryan Greenberg
In “Round and Round,” we found ourselves captivated by its unexpected charm and clever storytelling. The movie’s use of a time loop—a device that can be tricky to pull off—was masterfully executed with a fresh take each time the loop reset, which kept us engaged throughout. The fast-paced, quippy dialogue, peppered with retro pop culture references, provided a delightful sense of nostalgia and humor that resonated with us.
Each scene was infused with clever writing and genuinely funny moments, making the film stand out as a refreshing addition to the Hallmark lineup. Despite the familiar time loop trope, the movie felt vibrant and new, primarily due to its well-paced narrative and the dynamic chemistry between the leads. The blend of humor, heartfelt storytelling, and a unique setting during Hanukkah, rather than Christmas, added to its special appeal.

Hanukkah on Rye
Stars: Jeremy Jordan and Yael Grobglas
If Julie Sherman Wolfe writes it, we’re going to watch it. Julie herself often jokes about the fact that she’s a Jewish woman who makes a living writing Christmas movies. It works, because she also loves Christmas!
In Hanukkah on Rye the love is served hot and fresh, but so is the rivalry. A matchmaking mishap brings together two deli owners, who must learn to balance love and competition, all while battling for the best pastrami in town.
While we can’t personally speak to the Hanukkah authenticity in this movie, we can say this the plot moved at a pleasantly fast pace, the dialogue is snappy, and the You’ve Got Mail parallels make us smile.

Coming Soon: Hanukkah on the Rocks
Stars: Stacy Farber and Daren Kagasoff
Premieres: Friday, December 13 – Hallmark Channel
On the Hallmark Christmas cruise, Julie Sherman Wolfe joked that she needed a third Hanukkah On… movie to round out her trilogy.
In addition to writing what has the potential to be the biggest Hallmark movie of the year, Wolfe has a second movie in the Countdown.
In Hanukkah on the rocks we’ll see a corporate lawyer’s life take a hilarious turn when she’s unexpectedly laid off. As she helps her Bubby prepare for Hanukkah, she embarks on a city-wide search for the elusive Hanukkah candles, all while navigating the complexities of family, friendship, and maybe even love.
Fun fact: 90’s babies get ready because Marc Summers of DoubleDare and Unwrapped fame also stars in Hanukkah on the Rocks!
