The Girls Gone Hallmark Best Countdown to Christmas Movie Bracket is Back!
Just because Hallmark’s Countdown to Christmas has ended for the year doesn’t mean the festivities have to stop. We’re excited to announce the return of the popular interactive, the second annual Girls Gone Hallmark Countdown to Christmas Best Movie Bracket. Due to popular demand from our Instagram followers, we just had to bring it back this year!

Which 2023 Countdown to Christmas Movie was the Best?
Given the recent SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes, there was some concern about Hallmark Channel’s ability to present an engaging slate of movies that were both entertaining and enjoyable. However, we were thrilled with the thoughtful lineup that Hallmark Channel delivered this year.
42 movies is a lot of movies. Can you even remember which movie kicked off the 2023 Countdown to Christmas season? It was Kevin McGarry and Kim Matula in “Checkin’ It Twice” way back on October 20, 2023.
While the highly anticipated “A Biltmore Christmas” didn’t disappoint, many said “Never Been Chris’d” did simply because it wasn’t a Tyler Hynes movie. And then there are the sleeper hits: “Round and Round,” “Holiday Road,” “The Santa Summit,” and “Sealed with a List.”
Hallmark swung for the fences with a few movies that played outside of their usual box. “Christmas on Cherry Lane” was unlike anything we’ve seen before and many said it needed a rewatch to fully grasp the intertwined stories. Friends and Family Christmas” finally gave us a same-sex meet cute, and “Catch Me If You Claus” gifted us with a crime caper and Luke Macfarlane as sexy Santa.
What Were the Top 5 Highly-Rated Hallmark Movies for 2023?
Lacey Chabert slayed the ratings season with two movies: “A Merry Scottish Christmas” and “Haul Out the Holly: Lit Up” – landing in first and fourth place, respectively. Kris Polaha and Bethany Joy Lenz took second place with a stunning time-travel adventure. Andrew Walker, one-third of last year’s “Three Wise Men and a Baby,” did very well in “Christmas Island.” And, a movie about a turkey hotline rounded out the top five of the season.
Hallmark Movies and Mysteries: Miracles of Christmas
Don’t worry, we’re not excluding the nine Miracles of Christmas movies from the Countdown to Christmas Best Movie Bracket. How could we with gems like “To All a Good Night” starring Kimberley Sustad and newcomer Mark Ghanime? And did you know that “Miracle in Bethlehem, PA” brought in 1.91M viewers – scoring the highest network ratings since 2018.
Who Will Win the 2023 Best Countdown to Christmas Movie Bracket?
Determining a winner of the Girls Gone Hallmark Best Countdown to Christmas Movie Bracket is up to you. Beginning on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at 5pm PST/ 8pm EST you will have the opportunity to vote for your favorite movies from the season.
How Does the Best Movie Bracket Work?
The Girls Gone Hallmark Best Countdown to Christmas movie bracket is similar to a “March-Madness” basketball bracket. All 42 Hallmark movies will compete in a single elimination tournament. Movies are eliminated from the tournament after a single loss. Win or go home.
The bracket is very straightforward, with several rounds played, each one cutting the field in half until there is a champion. This will take a few days. Each competition will begin at 8pm PST/5pm EST nightly with the results posted the following day.
All the voting will take place in the Girls Gone Hallmark Instagram Stories.
